Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 7 January to 14 January 2025. The service is a domiciliary care service providing support to older people, younger adults, people living with dementia, physical disabilities, mental health disorders and sensory impairment along with people with a learning disability and/or autistic spectrum disorder. As part of this assessment we reviewed seventeen quality statements in Safe, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.
An assessment has been undertaken of a specialist service that is registered for use by autistic people or people with a learning disability. At the time of the assessment, the service was not used by anyone with a learning disability or an autistic person. However, we assessed the care provision under Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture, as it is registered as a specialist service for this population group.
Staff knew how to report allegations and concerns of abuse and understood their roles clearly and what was expected of them. People were involved in managing risks and risk assessments were person centred. People with protected characteristic felt supported. Staff managed medicines consistently and safely.
People were treated with kindness and respect and staff treated them as individuals and supported their preferences. People were involved in decisions about their care and staff worked to reduce health inequalities through training and feedback.
Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff to develop in their roles. The provider had clear and effective governance systems in place that identified and managed risks through audits and action plans. Managers worked with the local community to deliver the best possible care and were receptive to new ideas. The service has a positive culture that was person centred.
