Caring
Caring – this means we looked for evidence that the provider involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.
At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care.

Independence, choice and control
People told us they were supported to make choices which were respected by staff, this was confirmed by relatives. During our observations, staff were responsive to people and had clearly developed good relationships with them. We observed staff promoting people’s independence and offering people a choice of meals and activities, staff also gave people time to consider the options and to make their decision. Everyone living at the home had an activity plan in place which included activities meaningful to them. One person told us, “I enjoy swimming on Thursday and like to spend time in my room playing with Lego or listening to music.” Staff encouraged people to take part in new activities and activities in the community. A number of people spoke to us about activities they did during the week. One person spoke positively about their volunteering job at a care home which staff supported them to attend. People were able to choose to further develop their skills to become more independent. One person told us, “I like it here, I am happy, I feel safe, I clean my own room and staff help me with meals and to wash up.”
