Responsive
We assessed 1 quality statement in the responsive key question. The score for this quality statement has been combined with the scores from the last inspection, which was good. Though the assessment of this quality statement indicated some areas for improvement, the key question remains good. People were not consistently included in discussions about their care or asked what they wanted. Activity provision was limited which could significantly impact people’s experience of their care.

Person-centred Care
People told us they were not included in discussions about their care. There were limited activities, within the home or the community, for people to engage with. A person who used the service told us, “I would like to be somewhere where there is more going on.” They described the environment as depressing. People’s documentation did not include information about activities they enjoyed. However, people’s care plans were generally detailed and person-centred and helped staff to understand the person.
The registered manager acknowledged people’s involvement in their care and activities were areas for improvement. Staff understood the importance of people making day to day decisions about their care.
We observed limited activities taking place and people were not asked whether they wanted to join in with activities. We observed staff offering people day to day choices.
