We assessed 1 quality statement in the well-led key question and found areas of good practice. The score for this has been combined with scores based on the rating from the last inspection, which was good.

The rating for the key question remains good.

There were governance and management procedures in place. The service was well managed, and staff felt supported and valued.

Managers accounted for the actions, behaviours, and performance of staff. There were robust arrangements for the availability, integrity and confidentiality of data, records, and data management systems. Information was used effectively to monitor and improve the quality of care.

Governance, management and sustainability

Care staff praised the way the service was managed. They felt respected, valued and supported and this had a positive impact on their ability to carry out their role effectively.

A staff member said, “The management team is approachable, supportive, and provides clear guidance. It is a positive and collaborative environment where staff are supported, and service users receive high quality care.”

Staff told us they received supervisions of their role and competency assessments, and they found this to be a useful process that helped them to identify any areas of improvement in their work.

The registered manager told us they felt supported by senior management to carry out their role effectively.

Governance and auditing procedures were in place. These covered a wide range of areas of that could impact the health and safety of people. Regular audits of medicine processes, staff training, accidents, incidents, and complaints took place. These processes, amongst many others, helped to ensure people received high quality care and support.

The provider had emergency contingency plans in place should there be a sudden event that could affect the smooth running of the service. This included poor weather planning, staff sickness and national events such as COVID.

People’s care records were stored safely. Paper records were stored in locked cabinets. Electronic records were password protected. The registered manager was able to identify if unauthorised people had accessed records. This helped to keep people’s personal data secure.

The provider reviewed the performance of the registered manager and supported them should there be areas identified for improvement and/or development.
