Our view of the service
Montague Court is a long-term complex care locked rehabilitation mental health hospital for up to 18 male patients. It is registered to provide care and treatment for people detained under the Mental Health Act. We carried out our on-site assessment on the 15 May 2024. Off site assessment activity started on 15 May 2024 and ended on 5 July 2024. We looked at 3 key questions: safe, well-led and caring and 13 quality statements. We found 2 breaches of the regulations in relation to good governance and treating people with dignity and respect. The provider's systems and processes had failed to identify, manage and mitigate some areas of risk. Audits and checks were not always effective in ensuring continuous improvement. Staff did not always treat people with dignity and respect and respond to what they said. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
