Caring
There was a very friendly and homely atmosphere at Oaklands Court Nursing Home. Staff treated people in a respectful kind and caring manner and people and staff knew each other well. People greeted each other and staff as friends and loved ones.

Kindness, compassion and dignity
People and relatives were very positive about the staff and their approach to them. Comments included ‘Staff here are amazing, I can talk to the staff, they are kind, funny, thoughtful, and very patient. I have seen six or seven staff today and I have had a hug from all of them!’ ‘I know I would be well looked after. I know the staff talk about the 3 C’s Care, Compassion and Concern’ and they all do that. It is a lovely community here’ and ‘My personal care is handled with respect and dignity’.
Staff were proud of the service and the way staff treated people, and each other. One staff member described how a loved staff member was admitted to the service to be cared for at the end of their life. ‘It’s a very caring home where we all care for each other.’ Another staff member told us ‘The most important thing is to keep the residents happy!’ Acts of kindness were commonplace and part of what staff did on a daily basis. ‘We often just go and get flowers for people just because they like them.’
Visiting professionals were complimentary about the care and support provided. One said, ‘It is a pleasure to come here. I would recommend this place and have. I would have my parents here too.’
All staff were seen to be polite, caring, respectful and genuinely interested in people and wanting to do the best by them. Staff were keen to promote a happy and meaningful life for people. Staff took time to chat and exchange pleasantries. People responded positively to the staff with both showing genuine affection.
