Our view of the service
Muscliff Nursing Home is registered to provide accommodation for people who require nursing or personal care, this includes nursing care and supporting people living with dementia. The service can accommodate up to 41 people. At the time of our inspection 37 people were living at the service.
The inspection took place between 28 February and 10 March 2025. This inspection consisted of quality statements under the key questions of safe and well led. We visited the service on 3 March 2025.
This inspection was prompted by information we received about fire safety in the service. In January 2025, the local fire service issued fire safety recommendations, requiring completion within 6 months as outlined in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Following our inspection, we were fully assured by the arrangements in place to keep people safe.
Environmental risk assessments and robust safety checks were in place and complete. Governance systems were in place to ensure oversight. The registered manager told us they were, “Passionate to maintain an exceptionally safe environment as the safety of our residents is top priority. We have made progress with our action plan and look forward to welcoming the fire service back to see all required works complete.”
People's experience of this service
People told us they felt safe and cared for. Comments included: “I feel safe here, they are all very friendly here. I’ve never had reason to complain but I could tell the nurses anything and they'd help.” And, “Staff at this home they make themselves a part of our family, they are amazing people. The care they give my whole family is phenomenal. I have so much respect for them. Staff give it their all…it is led by the top; the registered manager does her job right.”
People, their relatives, and staff were complimentary about the registered manager. Relatives told us, “The registered manager is forward thinking outside of the box. They make a connection with each resident, and is a driving force to get the best care for those in her care.” , “Anything you ask, it's done there and then. That's what their [registered] manager drills into them…instant response. All staff give their very best.” and, “ The registered manager doesn't hide things, if she thinks something is not right, she tackles it head on. This home is run how I'd run it.”
We observed care was delivered in ways that were person-centred and promoted people’s dignity, privacy and human rights. Care staff treated people with kindness and respect.
