Caring – this means we looked for evidence that the service involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect. At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care.

Independence, choice and control
Staff promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing. People had positive relationships with staff and were supported to be as independent as possible. A person said, “I can do what I want. Come and go as I please.”
Staff described how they prioritised people’s wishes and supported them to be as independent as possible.
Staff supported people to access the community regularly. People were actively engaged in how they had chosen to spend the day. This included trips out with staff or activities within their home, such as crafts.
People were involved in deciding what was in their care plans to help ensure they received the support they wanted and needed. Care plans were reviewed regularly so they remained consistent with people’s needs and preferences.
