Our view of the service

The Porterbrook is a care home providing accommodation for personal care to older people, some of whom are living with dementia. The service can support up to 44 people. At the time of this inspection there were 43 people living at The Porterbrook. At the last inspection the service was rated requires improvement. We carried out this assessment in August and September 2024. Although we found some areas still required improvement. For example, infection control and moving and handling practices. These were actioned or being addressed by the registered manager. We saw the service overall had made significant improvements and is rated good overall. The management team promoted safety, events and incidents were investigated, and lessons learnt to embed and promote good practice. Staff were kind and caring and delivered good care and treatment following evidence-based practice and predominantly people experienced good outcomes.
