Our view of the service
Aster Care is a care home which provides nursing and residential care for up to 102 people. The service supports younger people, older people and people with a learning and/or physical disability. At the time of the inspection there were 50 people living at the home. The dates of the assessment were 3 December 2024 to 4 December 2024. This assessment was carried out in response to concerns received about the service relating to people’s care and treatment, staffing and the management of the service. We found no evidence during this assessment that people were at risk of harm from these concerns. We assessed a number of quality statements from each key question. We have combined the scores for these areas with scores from the last inspection to give the rating for this assessment. The service has been rated Good following this assessment. We have assessed the service against the ‘Right Support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make a judgement about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. People received a safe service, where they were involved in planning their care and support. People received person centred care and were treated with dignity and respect. Risks in relation to people’s care and support were assessed and plans were in place to reduce the risk of occurrence. People had their dietary and hydration needs met. There were enough suitably trained and knowledgeable staff to meet people’s needs. Safe recruitment practices were followed. Staff spoke positively about the management of the service and said they felt supported. The service worked in partnership with other agencies to ensure people’s needs were met. Systems were in place to monitor the quality of service and identify any areas of improvement.
