Our view of the service

We received concerns in relation to staffing and support provided to people about the care home. As a result, we undertook a responsive inspection to review the key questions of safe and well-led only. We carried out a site visit to the care home on 6 and 13 December 2024 as part of the assessment. This assessment was carried out by an assessor, an inspector, regulatory coordinator and an Expert by Experience. An expert by experience is a person who has personal experience of using or caring for someone who uses this type of care service. Assessment activity started on 6 December 2024 and ended on 8 January 2025. We looked at 10 quality statements as part of this assessment. We spoke with 13 people and 3 relatives as part of this assessment. Springfield Care Centre is a residential care home providing accommodation with personal care for up to 80 elderly people. At the time of this assessment, 78 people were living at the service. People living in the home have their own bedrooms and there are shared communal spaces, including lounges, a kitchen and a garden area.

People's experience of this service

People felt safe at the home. Staff were trained in key areas to perform their roles effectively. Risk assessments were in place for people, which set out how to minimise risks and keep people safe. Systems were in place to recruit staff to work with vulnerable people. Medicines were being managed safely. There was enough staff to support people. Staff were caring when supporting people and had a good relationship with them. Quality assurance systems were in place. Feedback was sought from people, relatives and staff to ensure there was a culture of continuous improvement. Relatives and staff told us there was an open and positive culture at the service. People were supported to express their views.
