We assessed a limited number of quality statements in the caring key question and found areas of good practice. The scores for these areas have been combined with scores based on the rating from the last inspection, which was good. Though the assessment of these areas indicated areas of good practice since the last inspection, our rating for the key question remains good. People received support to remain as independent as possible and people’s care plan included guidance for staff on how to support independence.

People confirmed staff members provided the level of support they required to maintain their independence. People also stated that staff supported them to make choices about their care. People explained that there were activities arranged including celebrating specific events with comments including, “There is an entertainments lady. She will bring in books from the library. I read thrillers,” and “They do celebrate special days like Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s – there’s always a special day.”

Staff said they encouraged people to be as independent as possible and they provided the level of support each person required.

Care plans identified the person’s care needs and how they wanted their support to be provided.
