Governance, management and sustainability
The provider had clear responsibilities, roles, systems of accountability and good governance. They used these to manage and deliver good quality, sustainable care, treatment and support. They acted on the best information about risk, performance and outcomes and shared this securely with others when appropriate.
West Banbury Cottages had been developed and designed in line with principles and values that underpinned best practice. This ensured that autistic people or people with a learning disability who used the service could live meaningful lives that included control, choice, and independence. People using the service received planned and co-ordinated person-centred support that was appropriate and inclusive for them.
The service had clear and effective governance, management, sustainability and accountability arrangements to monitor the quality and safety of the service.
Audits were completed by the manager overseeing the service and the provider on a regular basis as part of monitoring the service provided. This enabled them to identify any trends to ensure the service was meeting the needs of people being supported. Where actions were needed, these had been followed up by senior staff. For example, support plans and risk assessments were updated and care planning now included involvement of relevant health and social care professionals.
The service was open, honest, and transparent with people when things went wrong. The provider recognised their responsibilities under the duty of candour requirements and staff followed the service’s policies and procedures.
The service had notified CQC about any significant events at the service. We use this information to monitor the service and ensure they respond appropriately to keep people safe.
