Effective
Effective – this means we looked for evidence that people’s care, treatment and support achieved good outcomes and promoted a good quality of life, based on best available evidence. At our last inspection we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people’s outcomes were consistently good, and people’s feedback confirmed this.
This service scored 75 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.
Assessing needs
The provider made sure people’s care was effective by assessing and reviewing their health, care, wellbeing and communication needs with them. Detailed initial assessments were undertaken to identify people’s care and support needs. This included information about any medical conditions and current treatment they were having and how this may impact on the person and how they were to be cared for. A care worker told us, “When beginning a new care package, I am provided with a comprehensive and detailed care plan. This document thoroughly outlines the specific needs, preferences, and requirements of the individual I will be supporting.” People were involved in the assessment process and told us their care and support was regularly reviewed to ensure it continued to meet their needs.

Consent to care and treatment
The provider told people about their rights around consent and respected these when
delivering person-centred care. People confirmed staff asked their permission and obtained their consent prior to providing support. People’s care records clearly identified whether they had capacity to make decisions, or if they required support, who was able to make decisions on their behalf.
