Equity in experiences and outcomes
Staff and leaders actively listened to information about people who are most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes and tailored their care and support in response to this. Staff were respectful of people’s individual needs, and supported them in line with their preferences, wishes and beliefs. A care worker said, “I aim to create a space where individuals can grow, maintain their dignity, and feel empowered to make choices that reflect their personal values and dreams.” Care records included information on people’s religion, culture, their preferred name, pronoun and language. An equalities and diversity policy was in place which outlined that everyone should be respected and there was zero tolerance regarding any form of discrimination. The registered manager told us, “Our care plan is specific to the person. We are able to identify what their needs are and how they could be discriminated or treated unfairly. We follow up with them what they want and how they like to be addressed, who they like in their house. We protect their rights and we protect their dignity.”
