Safeguarding
The provider worked with people and health and social care partners to understand what being safe meant to them and the best way to achieve that. Staff concentrated on improving people’s lives while protecting their right to live in safety, free from bullying, harassment, abuse, discrimination, avoidable harm and neglect. The provider shared concerns quickly and appropriately. Staff understood their duties to protect people from avoidable harm. If any concerns were identified they were reported appropriately and investigated.
Involving people to manage risks
The provider worked with people to understand and manage risks by thinking holistically. Staff provided care to meet people’s needs that was safe, supportive and enabled people to do the things that mattered to them.
Staff assessed risks to people’s health and safety. Information about any risks were clearly detailed in people’s care records, and staff supported people to minimise those risks. Staff told us the management team kept them updated on any changes to people’s health or risks to their welfare. People told us they felt safe receiving support from their care worker.

Safe and effective staffing
The provider made sure there were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff, who received effective support, supervision and development. They worked together well to provide safe care that met people’s individual needs.
The provider followed safe recruitment practices to ensure suitable staff were employed. Staff completed a robust training programme to ensure they had the knowledge and skills to undertake their duties. A care worker said, “I am pleased with the quality of training available to me…allowing me to enhance my skills and perform effectively.” Staff received regular supervision and felt well supported. The provider took appropriate action if there were any performance concerns, to address the issue and support the care worker.
People confirmed they received support from a consistent care worker. They said staff turned up on time and stayed the required length of time to meet their needs.
