Delivering evidence-based care and treatment
People we spoke with did not raise any concerns about not receiving care that did not meet evidence based practice.
Through our discussions with staff and review of patient records it was clear staff followed professional guidance. Meeting minutes from a streaming working action group held in May 2024 demonstrated best practice guidance had been considered.
Processes supported the delivery of evidence based practice. Patients with confusion were assessed using a recognised scoring system. Skin integrity, falls assessments, national early warning scoring and sepsis screening were all in place and followed in line with national guidance. Patients with head injuries received in-depth scanning when meeting the required criteria and the safe management of insulin was observed during the inspection. There was a process for reviewing and updating best practice guidelines used within the service, this included scrutiny at a succession of working groups and committees before roll-out to all staff members.
