Capable, compassionate and inclusive leaders
Leaders of the urgent and emergency services included senior clinicians and managers. Leaders had a genuine commitment to improve patients experience, care and treatment. There was positive work between partner organisations to address challenges of the patient journey from end to end, with a mindset on improving front door access, reducing delays and meeting people’s needs. Staff felt supported by their leadership team. Leaders were available when needed and led by example. Leaders focused on staff well being and ensured a culture which promoted good practice, good quality and safe patient care.
Leaders had effective support opportunities to develop and maintain their credibility and skills. Staff and leaders understood their roles, responsibilities and accountabilities. All staff had opportunities to develop including for future leadership roles. There was inclusive recruitment and succession planning for the future. The trust had effective recruitment processes and ongoing checks to ensure all staff met legal requirements to work in the trust.
