Capable, compassionate and inclusive leaders
The provider had inclusive leaders at all levels who understood the context in which they delivered care, treatment and support and embodied the culture and values of their workforce and organisation. Leaders had the skills, knowledge, experience and credibility to lead effectively. They did so with integrity, openness and honesty.
Staff told us management were very supportive and exemplified the caring attitudes they expected of their staff. They gave examples of managers providing some of the in-house training, tailoring it to the specifics of people living at the service and delivering in a variety of ways that kept staff engaged. Staff said, “You can come in and discuss any concerns you have, about work or personal stuff, and they genuinely care. They’re not slack though; they will tell you if something’s not good enough or if something needs doing, but they’re really supportive as well” and “I know if I have a problem, I can come straight in, and they won’t just tell me the answer, they’ll coach me through it and work with me to help me find the solution.”
Everybody we spoke with felt the home was very well managed. Relatives told us of events that took place, both in the home and outside, from visits to the local town to go shopping, to walks in the park and trips to the theatre. People and relatives said they knew the management team well and said they were always visible around the home initiating conversation with people and relatives.
