Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 5 to 13 February 2025. This service is a residential care home for adults of all ages, some who may be living with dementia, and sensory or physical disabilities. At the time of our inspection 23 people lived at The Old Vicarage. Leaders had been successful in embedding and sustaining service improvements identified as required at our last inspection. They had embedded a leaning culture and looked to continuously improve. Leaders worked with partners and involved people, relatives and staff in how the service was developed. Staff were motivated, kind and caring. People were involved in decisions about their care and received person-centred care from staff who knew them well and were confident and understood how to help them safely. People were supported to meet their own aims, ambitions and interests. A variety of activities were planned according to people’s individual needs. People enjoyed planning and partaking in stimulating and exciting activities that promoted friendships and links to their communities. People’s independence, dignity and privacy was respected. Care plans and risk assessments reflected people’s assessed needs and helped to inform staff on how to reduce risks to people. Staff received training and on-going guidance and support from leaders, and this helped them provide safe and effective care.
