Staff demonstrated compassion and kindness toward patients in their interactions with patients, respecting their privacy and dignity. They recognised each patient's unique needs and supported them in understanding and managing their care, treatment, or condition. Staff involved patients in care planning and risk assessment, actively seeking their feedback on the quality of care provided. They also ensured that patients had easy access to independent advocacy services. People were always treated with kindness, empathy and compassion. They felt valued and understood that their experience of care and support was important. Their privacy and dignity were respected, and every effort was made to consider their wishes and respect their choices to achieve the best possible outcomes. This included supporting people to live as independently as possible.

Patients have choice of meals from a meat to vegetarian dish. Patients have choice to meals in their room if preferred. Staff told us patient with special diets get catered for. Patients had access to tea, coffee machine and water freely in the communal areas. We saw a patient making their own breakfast and a cup of tea. Patients had access to their mobile phones unless they had been risk assessed and items restricted.

Staff told us patient with special diets get catered for. They told us that family and carers were given details of the hospital including the wards to contact and to visit their loved ones. Staff told us that they encourage carers and families to attend ward rounds.

During the assessment, we observed that staff were visible and engaging with patients to support them with day-to-day tasks. We looked at patients’ food comments book which was complimentary. Patients had access to tea, coffee machine and water freely in the communal areas. We saw a patient making their own breakfast and a cup of tea.

The provider had processes in place to ensure patients had independence, choice, and control of their treatment. Patients had access to tea, coffee machine and water freely in the communal areas. Care plans supported people to express their wishes and engage in activities of their choice. Patients had access to their mobile phones unless they had been risk assessed and items restricted. Care was conducted in a person-centred way with the involvement of people, families, and advocates when appropriate.
